Praying Scripture Over our Marriages in May

In five days, on Monday, May 5th, WATERS FALL officially releases. It’s already available at Amazon in e-book format at the introductory price of $1.99, and it’s free to borrow through your Kindle Lending Library. I hope you’ll pick up a copy and share with me your thoughts on this modern day love story.

May is always a big month for us, not just because of the national holidays….

May is National Date Your Mate Month. It’s also National Recommitment Month.

May is National Foster Care Month.

May is National Hamburger Month, and ironically, National Salad Month… as well as National Blood Pressure Month and National Fitness Month. (Who comes up with these???)

In May we pay tribute to our Armed Forces and The Red Cross, and pay homage to our Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day, as well as Police Officer Memorial Day.

In May we recognize our teachers, nurses, receptionists, waiters and waitresses, even tourists.

There are days like No Socks Day (8th), Memorial Day for Lost Socks (9th) and Lumpy Rug Day (3rd).

And so many more!

Give us a day, we’ll find something to celebrate here in America!

On a more personal level, this year, Mothers Day falls on May 11th, the 5 year anniversary of my husband’s fall and miraculous recovery. We’re celebrating marriages and moves, anniversaries and birthdays, book releases and audiobook productions, and the end of another successful year of home school.

And in the hustle and bustle of it all it would be so easy to forget to pray.

So I’m committing to set aside a few minutes each day specifically for praying scripture over our marriages throughout the month of May.

Will you join me?

Praying Scripture Over our Marriages – May 1st, 2014

Matthew 18:18-20 (NASB)  “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

Philippians 1:6 (NASB) “And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until his task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns.”

Lord, as we begin this new month, I bring to you my commitment to pray for my marriage. I claim the promise You made in Matthew 18:18 that we have the power – YOUR POWER – to claim on earth the things that belong to You, and to release the things that are not of You. I am claiming my marriage for You, Jesus; we are claiming our marriages for You, Jesus. You tell us that when even two of us get together to pray, to bind or loose something in Your Name, that Heaven goes to work on our behalf!

And so, I bring my marriage to You, Jesus, and I ask that you breathe new life into it. Please start by changing me. Help me to see my husband through Your eyes. Help me to speak to my husband with Your words. Help me to love my husband the way You love him, the way You love me – unconditionally and eternally. I know You have begun a good work in us, in me, in him, and I’m so thankful that You won’t ever give up on us. Help me to pay attention when You’re asking me to change, because I want to grow in grace.

These things I ask in Your Name, Jesus, Amen.
